                 "Strange Angels"

When hope abandons, and hope my only friend,

Still, the ghost of hope inside me always lives –

In faith lies comfort, when at comfort's end,

It shelters me from what I can't forgive.

For demons loose their chains inside bright dreams,

So dreaming night and day I'll keep my mind;

Or am I blurring all that lies between?

Exists there, really, such a lucid line?

The monster in the shadows is too real,

And I am captive to its memory.

Long gone bruises never seem to heal –

How am I caged, when such a man roams free?

Strange angels help the smile rarely fade,

When laughter reigns, I cannot be afraid.

              "You and I"

Leaves in fall remind me of you,

Drifting through life, just as I do.

Different masks for every season,

Moods chaotic without reason.

Inspired by what you love most,

I’m haunted by the same damn ghosts;

Madness breeding in obsession,

Chasing dreams without possession.

Weeping for what’s lost forever,

Always seeking something better

Than what Fate seems bent on giving;

Loving men, but never winning.

Through your eyes, I see me breaking,

Watch the toll that life is taking;

I know you’re on that ledge, my friend,
I see you mimic my own end.

Still, what of you and I remain?

How close to death, how near the grave?

I dwell in darkness far too often,

And long for that sweet, shallow coffin.

But if you break, then I’ll break, too,

You’ll be the martyr, I the fool;

So we’ll ignore Death's fatal call,

We’ll chase the dream and dare the fall.

Oh you and I, we walk the line,

The rope so slight, so very fine.
